A:Answer The 3.0 port has 10 times the data thru-put of 2.0, (625 MB/sec vs. 60 MB/sec). This is accomplished by using separate wire pairs for transmit and receive data where the 2.0 port uses only one set of wires for both functions. There are other architecture differences, but they are of little concern, as a 3.0 hub is backward compatible to 2.0. This means that if your computer only has a USB 2.0 connection a 3.0 hub will work perfectly with it.
