• A:Answer I am doing the same. It should work fine. I am attaching two SATA-III internal type drives, via SATA to USB cable adapters (with 12V attached power). Just make sure you attach to the Pi's USB 3.0 ports, or performance will suffer.

• A:Answer I use this portable 4 port USB hub to connect my webcam, portable harddrive, the USB adapter for my wireless mouse, and my RODEcaster Pro all through one of the USB 3 ports on my laptop. It should also work through a USB 2 port on your computer. With this 4 port USB hub it extends the use of several devices from just one port. I plug into the wall or surge protector the power cord for the 4 port USB hub, but honestly without the hub being plugged in it still works. That may be when the USB 4 port hub is plugged into the USB 3 port on my laptop that supplies the power to the hub. Either way, it works. I hope that answers your question. :)
