Insignia customer support says the overall width is 48.1 but the spec pdf says it's 38.1. Which is it please? My space is 40" wide.

This TV is a total of 48.1 inches wide and the outer side of the legs is aligned with the frame of the TV, therefore they would end up partly floating on a 36 inch stand. I would recommend model NS-40D510NA19 which is a total of 35.6 inches wide and would fit perfectly on your stand. Alexander G. - Insignia Support
