It could be used in a crawl space and does not need clearance on top to function. BUT the units controls are all on top Including the light which comes on to let you know the back of units filter needs to be cleaned. ALSO you need room in front to empty tray OR if you use hose to auto drain that hook up is in BACK of unit and needs to be run down lower then unit for proper drainage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Need to allow space around for operation so perhaps it could be used in the crawl space but also might be dificult to empty the bucket unless you attach a hose for continuous water removal.
