70yrs. You are just figuring things out! Keep going strong! The connection on your tv is what you need to know. The tv will have several inputs. Since you have an HD tv this means it's newer and may not have a VGA (blue-multipin) connection. If that is the case you will need a vga to HDMI adapter ~25.00. You would just use your remote on your tv to switch from your cable input (hdmi 1) to (hdmi 2) laptop connection. Hope this helps,
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you wouldn't need to contact anyone to handle this task. All you would need is a "VGA to HDMI" adapter. In some cases, these more advanced cable boxes will have a VGA port ( area to plug in). If you look behind your cable box, check to see if there is a VGA port (it will most likely have blue or white around it and look like what is on the computer cord.) If so, you may not even need an adapter. Simply plug-&-play. You can also connect your laptop to your TV directly and use it as a computer monitor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Take a picture of all of the inputs on the back of your TV and then take a picture of all of the inputs on the laptop and take that into Best Buy and ask them which cable would be best and they will get it for you and then you can connect it yourself very easy
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You could just try a VGA to HDMI converter like this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-hdmi-to-vga-adapter-black/1577417.p?skuId=1577417 Just make sure they have the male/female ends you need.
