• As you are looking at the port this cable plugs into it will be flat on top, straight down the sides, then the two lower corners are curved then straight between them. On the left and right sides of the cable are a ridge or line. This is the only connection that looks like this. It is what delivers the digital sound from your sound system. Mine plugs into the back of the receiver and the TV

• No. This is for the Optical port. Remove the little plastic cover from the cable and any covers protecting the ports.
