I had a JBL charge three and it got knocked off a cart at work about two and a half feet fall instantly broken.seemed a little fragile. The JBL did have much better sound and bass response. the louder you played it the faster the battery would wear down. which is to be expected.

Only through a plug/wire. I can connect via my Echo Dot with 3mm cord. Great sound and you just tell Alexia what to play.
