I don't think this will work. The DisplayPort on the computer is for output only (to the monitor). It doesn't work for input.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know you can’t. This adapter is for output from a display port to an external monitor. The display port on your Mac is not an input.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure about your adapter but I have PS4 remote play installed on my laptop. I connect my dual shock controller start the program and my PS4 and I can now have 2 displays, one on my TV and one on my laptop...Works like a charm. here is a link works with both PC and Mac. https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/en/index.html

Your connecting two outputs to each other. You got to connect it to an external monitor, both devices can use external monitors. Well, at least they did till you connected them like this. :) hope they still both work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That wouldn't work...your Macbook Air would have USB-A ports, and probably a Thunderbolt-2 port and a Magsafe-2 port. The 12" Macbook (just Macbook, not Air) has a USB-C port, which this could connect to. That port is ONLY used for charging and for connection to USB-C devices, like this adapter, which would let you connect a normal USB-A device or cord, like a mouse, keyboard, external hard drive, or phone sync/charge cable. You would not be able to use this to display your Playstation on your Macbook screen, without an HDMI capture device. Even then, there would be so much delay it wouldn't be usable, and you would still need a TV or monitor with HDMI input.
