Hi Barb, Hold the top of the remote tightly. Push down the battery cover by applying pressure with the thumb that's on the bottom of the battery cover. Slide the door down halfway and roll off the cover from the remote battery casing. Insert alkaline batteries and slide the cover up until you hear a click to close the cover.
