there is an Aux-in port, so it can work with any radio with a headphone jack. You only need a headphone jack-to-headphone jack cable (also called a 3.5mm audio cable) to connect it.

Simply set the radio volume at about 50% and plug the cable into the headphone jack; the radio speaker will be muted. Plug the other end into the Insignia's "AUX" jack and follow the directions for detailed operation. I just got a Mini Sonic and the first thing I did was plug my Sony ICFP26 into it! The radio actually has a decent-quality AM and mono FM output that sounds good on a better speaker. The key to the Insiginia sound is that, in addition to the small speaker driver, the entire case acts as a passive radiator "mini-subwoofer" to enhance the frequency range. It makes any small device like the Sony radio more satisfying to listen to. We also easily paired our phones to the Mini Sonic using Bluetooth. My wife and daughter already want their own! The only downside for your mom might be that the controls on the Mini Sonic are very poorly marked. They're raised characters on the rubber control panel on the top, and are nearly impossible to see. Perhaps she (and I) will get used to using them by touch and location; otherwise, it's a major ergonomic error by Best Buy/Insignia. I'm going to put a piece of tape on the volume controls to mark and find them easily.
