“Got this to hook up insignia bookshelf speakers. I used RCA cables from the speakers to the converter and digital optical audio cable from converter to tv. Works fine on hdmi. Trying to use it on cable tv. Dont have a box. Running off digital cable coax”

You said you're trying to run it on cable but don't have a cable box. That doesn't make sense to me. Even though I don't understand your question, one thing you need to make sure to do is adjust your audio settings on your TV to PCM or lpcm.
