How to adapt older receiver audio jacks to new TV with HDMI? I have an older Marantz receiver with RCA type audio jacks and I want to connect it to my new LG TV
that has only HDMI connections.Is there an adapter available to accomplish this?

I also have an older Marantz receiver and used an optical-to-analog converter to connect the TV audio output to my receiver. The output on the TV must also be selected to "external" speakers for it to work.

This will work if your TV has optic outputs and an optic cable.

Many newer TVs have an optical digital audio output. If yours does, a digital to audio converter will solve your problem. If not, what type of "audio out" port does your LG have?

Yes as long as you have audio outputs from the source unit. Google it and you will find what you need.

They do make units that you can plug the RCA jacks unit and it will then carry the audio through the HDMI to the TV. However, if the cakes are there and you are already using it in this fashion if it is not broken don't fix the it. You are not going to get anything more than the analog sound out of the receive as it does not have the capabilities to begin with. You would be better off to buy a new receiver.
