No, this converter will not convert an older TV to a newer version.

Example if you buy a NEW tv it will come as digital sound, If you have some older head phones you need to convert the audio sound from digital ( NEW tv ) to the analog sound, of the older head phones. Why would I choose to do this? Good head phones cost almost $200.00 or more; this unit cost $29.00 plus the cost of the connecting cable $20.00 a lot cheaper. If you looking to hook up an older tv to receive the digital signal you need a different piece of equipment to do this> Hope this helps Jim
