There is a self cleaning feature that runs its cycle but you can also add lemon juice to clean and toss out the next few batches after. The drain is towards the front right side of the unit. And no to the water line, there is a reservoir to store water in.

There is no connection to hook the device to a water line. The water storage is about 3 Quarts. The ice maker stops when the water is low or the ice bin is full.

Please try again later.Item is not self cleaning, there are cleaning liquids you can purchase and run the unit with to clean out (be sure to run a few cycles with water after and throw out produced ice to make sure cleaner is completely washed out). Drain plug is on the front bottom of the machine.
