Will this work to connect a 50" tv to my desktop? null

It should work. But driving a lot of video through USB may not be the best option. But it will work. Try and see.

I use the Insignia USB to HDMI adapter to connect my laptop to a monitor. (The HDMI socket is having problems). It works fine, Connecting to a TV depends on the specifics of the TV electronics. Most TV's with HDMI ports will connect to a computer. Check your User Manual. If your desktop is Windows 10 or later, it should see the TV as a second monitor.

It will work if your desktops has a USB port and your tv has an HDMI port. Ideally you should have a USB 3 port, but I connected an old Microsoft Surface with a USB 2 port to a 46" Samsung TV
