“Follow up question regarding alarm volume. No matter what the volume is set to or what the alarm volume is set to in the app, alarm always goes off at 40. Timer volume will lower based on the settling but the alarm volume will always go off at 40.”

• So looking into this further and this appears to be a Google home issue and not the device. This volume issue happens on all Google assistant devices and when you ask to have an alarm on with music playback. https://support.google.com/googlehome/forum/AAAAXWcshA0k2K0jwUoU2E/?hl=en hope this helps anyone else that sees this as an issue.

• Turn off night mode. Or don't have your alarms go off between 10pm and 7am

• Thanks for this. Google needs to fix this. The 40% music alarm volume is just too loud when it’s next to your ear.
