“I'm having a problem where if I walk in front of the speaker it changes the volume down to 20 and then back up to whatever I had it set at. And it will do this several times before it stays at the correct volume. What's going on with it?”

The volume should only reduce when it is listening for a command or when unplugged from it's power source. Check the connection, of this doesn't solve the problem exchange it.
