“Hi, I got this for my daughters for Christmas and we dont use Wifi at home, we just turn on our Mobile Hotspots and use that for our internet. Would this device not work with that? I was trying to connect this thing for over an hour. Thanks.”

Possibly as mobile hot spots are essentially Wifi. However, the speaker would have to reconnect every time you want to use it and might be searching for a signal during the times you don't have the Wifi enabled and broadcasting.......so, not very efficient nor effective most likely.
