“The wake command of hey Google or ok Google do not work when the music is on. This is true even if I pick up the speaker and am yelling into it. If I catch it during a quiet part it will pick it up, or if I pause the music manually. Any way to improve it”

I don't know if this will help or not, but at what height do you have the device setting? My girlfriend had the same problem with hers and I later found out she had it on a shelf at about head level. By doing that, the microphones weren't picking up her voice correctly. I told her to set it on her nightstand which is about waist-high and she no longer had that problem. If you physically can't see the top of the unit then chances are your microphones aren't picking your voice up the way they're supposed to . Hope that helps.
