There are work around instructions using If This Then That (IFTT) provided at the following link by gearbrain using a IFTT applet. https://www.gearbrain.com/call-and-text-google-home-2567906616.html You will need to create individual triggers, like "Text John Smith". When the Google Assistant hears "Text John Smith" it will listen for your SMS voice input, and send an SMS to a specific phone number that you have entered for that "Text John Smith" trigger. A separate applet must be created for each individual. So best for key friends in your texting circle. It does work well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That would be an answer for Google. There are a lot of limited features with the Google Assistant. You might consider looking into an Alexa Assistant or Siri type device instead. I think they have more features like calling, texting, calendars etc.. I very rarely use the speaker for information, more for music and reminders. If you plan to use this thing for communications you could use the bluetooth feature for calls n stuff but other than that I'd look elsewhere. I love this product but any questions regarding Google would be best answered by them.
