“Is there a way to keep a countdown timer on the display after setting one? I replaced a Google home mini with this in my kitchen, with hopes to use the display to set cooking timers and see the countdown, rather than have to ask it each time.”

Short answer, no Long answer, you can view the count down timer on your phone in the home app Go to devices, find your speaker and open settings, then tap alarms and timers
