HP monitors how many pages you print and how much ink you have left, via your online connection. You will save the new cart until your printer tells you you're out of ink, then you will replace it. HP will know when you replaced it.

Please try again later.Because the Instant Ink program is based on the number of pages you print (100 page a month on the $5 plan), how often you get ink will depend on exactly what you're printing. If you do a lot of 8x10 photos, you're going to get ink more often than if you just print text.
