No, it is intended to be used with a smart device (laptop or pc) on which drivers must be installed for the hardware to recognize it and make it work. Your DVD player can't do that. I am using it because I have an older laptop with Windows XP and no bluetooth. Pretty much all smart televisions and Blu-ray players as well as some DVD players have some internet connection. If you have a recent enough player, it supports the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) protocols. If your player supports DLNA, you can run an application on your phone that will allow your player (DVD, BD, Roku, smart TV, etc) to stream video over your wireless network.
