IOGEAR Says: The GWHDBBKIT will work with most HDMI sources including Camcorders. The transmitter does not need to be connected to a power source , it has a power adapter. For your setup the GWHDKITD or GWHD11 may be a better fit . Thank you for choosing IOGEAR
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The two units function together as a long HDMI Cable, so it should work. The transmitter (camcorder end) would not be very portable because it requires a power connection. Range is limited to about 100 feet, but walls, floors, and other structural elements reduce the effective range. My application is to connect a Directv DVR in the basement to a television on the first floor. It prevented having to run an HDMI cable through the floor and walls. I found that properly orienting the antennas on the two units takes a little trial and error, but it works well for my purposes. Hope this helps, and good luck.
