Only the right headphone can be used by itself. The left one can not be used independently of the right one. The left one will only ever pair to the right one. This is typical for all brands of "True Wireless'' in the ear headphones such as these.

Please try again later.You can't, but if I only want to listen with the left bud, I take the right bud out of the case and set it on my nightstand, then take the left one out of the case and put it in my ear. (You have to take the right one out of the case First.) I use mine at night to listen to a sleep app to put me to sleep. Zzz

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you want to have earbud independence check out SoundPEATS. You can pair their earbuds individually so you can listen to music or whatever independently, but for stereo sound you must pair the right and let the left pair with it. I will note that I had some and returned them only because the manual said to skip backward a song you double click the left earbud. In reality I found this to only work if you did so within a couple seconds of song play starting, but you could skip forward with the right earbud by doing the same during any point in song play. So if that isn't a big issue for you to skip songs these are a great deal.
