“Can I answer calls from the headset if it’s connected to my phone or do the headphones need to be plugged in to my phone for me to answer the call? And same question for laptop use”

I don't know if this will help, but I CAN talk on the cell with these headsets, however in order for me to answer the call, I have to physically answer the call on the cellphone, but I can then speak freely, through the headset. I don't know if the inability to answer the phone directly from the headset is due to the fact that I am using the Your Phone Companion app which is paired to my computer therefore when the phone rings, it rings through the headset, but it tells me that I have to answer it on the cellphone in order to talk through the headset. Hope that helps a little.
