KKM, Kanto here, we can only recommend the installation methods found in our manual. We only give instructions and hardware for wood stud walls and concrete walls. You may have to contact Best Buy directly to get an answer to the second part of your question. Taking into consideration the weight of the mount, the weight of your TV, and how far this mount can extend you may be better off adding wood studs / blocking into your wall as plaster is not a structurally adequate substrate.
