“Could you please tell me if the cleaning and descaling kits that I've seen recently being sold are compatible with this particular machine or would it be best to stick with white vinegar only. I don't want to chance damaging it. Thank you.”

All of the cleaning solutions are compatible. For the descale you have to empty the reservoir of water make sure there is no k-cup loaded, fill the reservoir with the solution and add water til you reach the max line on the reservoir, put a large cup under the drippier and run 10 oz twice, The add water light will come on leave the remain solution in the reservoir and let sit with the unit on for 30 mins. Then empty reservoir and run clean water at least 4 times using the 10 oz setting. That is it you are done. For the cleaning k-cups just follow directions.
