- Answer Good chance you're getting road noise. If you change to a higher grade speaker wire it should get rid of most of the static. If you're using a stock head unit that's probably an issue as well. Order speaker wire with thicker shielding from Crutchfield or Best Buy.. If you do this and static persists check your ground. Steer clear of Walmart brands. They're basically what you have now
