I put it in my MercML500 because the head unit blew out and the amp was fed by fiber optics to match the bose speakers and it works like a champ

Try connecting the remote wire to another source or if the amplifier has auto sensing turn on, do away with the remote wire completely and let the signal from the RCA’s turn the amplifier on.

It uses either a remote turn on wire coming from your audio source, or it can digitally sense voltage on the input of amp and it powers on. Usually that pop is a good indication of any of the following; improper input signal connections, gain set too high, poor wiring, faulty ground, or poor amplifier quality.
