“I currently have KHHS179LSS-5 installed above my stove which has stopped working. Is this a comparable replacement for my existing microwave? I'm having hard time figuring out which microwave will be a good replacement. Please help. Thanks.”

I believe it should work I just replaced a kitchenaid 30’ over the range microwave I don’t remember the M# because I get rid of it and it works fine with the existing hardware.did not have to use the new hardware.I only use the two bolts that mounted the microwave to the above cabinet
