I asked the same question . I was told that the outside vent is a standard size opening . Mine was 10x 3 outside dimensions . I witnessed the install . He did measure where the existing was with respect to the new duct opening. It did match with no modification. Tested. There is a initial click opening sound , clearly audible. Some say loud but really not that loud. A closing much softer sound. No friction sound quiet. It works well to vent air to the outside. Oven now just 2 weeks and no issues.
