“If installed flush next to a cabinet on the left that comes out much further than the depth of the microwave, will the door be able to open or will it get caught on the side of the cabinet?”

You will need to either mount the microwave where it is not 100% flush (which doesn’t look bad), or you will need to have about a 1” space on the left of the microwave to allow the door open properly. This is an excellent convection/microwave!
