Yes, you can remove the tops from the sliver ware holder. You lift them up at the end a slide it off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The top slides off if necessary. There are two sections and we sometimes slide one side off and leave the other on because the silverware gets a better wash when held separated as designed. Knife handles up works well also.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - i dont use the top at all so it must be removable (or fold back to the sides). I was also a much larger silverware bins than I needed so I was able to separate the 2 halves and make some more room for a few more dishes.
