These provide circulation around the outside of the oven compartment and through the display compartment to maintain an acceptable temperature for the electronics. Air will exhaust out both the top and the bottom of the oven unit. Without this circulation, the electronics would fail. This is all just radiant heat that is being exhausted. It is not wasting any energy.
