“Can I use these speakers without any additional hardware to connect to my TV? I would like to use them for my bedroom TV which has an optical out to connect to music system. I have never owned music system before and this is potentially my first purchase”

You may be able to. You might have to use your phone and Bluetooth or at least an optical cable and buy a set a wireless book shelves

I run a similar set up for now. Wireless sub with a huge soundbar. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you wire your tv to a receiver or amp they will work. But they do not have an optical hookup. They require regular speaker wire and need amplification to work..
