Klipsch RM-51M is not a powered speaker. You will need to get an amplifier to connect between your computer and the speakers. I use Fosi Audio BT10A amplifier from Amazon to drive this speakers along with Klipsch R120SW. I don't use the bluetooth function of the amplifier often and I just got it in case I wanted to play music from my phone. The sound Klipsch RM-51M with Fosi Audio BT10A amplifie is very clear and amazing. All the music from my computer sounds like I am sitting in the best seat of a nice concert hall. I recently got Fosi Audio DAC Converter 24-bit/192kHz Optical/Coaxial/USB Digital-to-Analog Adapter hoping that it will improve the sound quality, but that didn't make much difference. I really recommend the Klipsch RM-51M speakers and Fosi Audio BT10A amplifier. If you wanted to get the built-in powered speaker, the model number is Klipsch R-15PM.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it could be hooked up to a desktop with an external amp. I'm using the Lepai 2-channel amp. It sounds great. You want a 2.1 amp 2-channel plus a subwoofer feed.

These are not simple plug and play out of the box with headphone jacks, for example; you'd at least need an inexpensive adapter. These speakers are better when paired with receivers or mixers, but they can be inexpensive, too, depending on features and additional connectability you desire. You need speaker wire to use these. It's extremely simple to connect, but something you should know and research how to do.
