Yes, the app must be running, and yes, if properly calibrated, you can keep the phone in your pocket. The app runs in the background and does not have to be the active app on your phone.

If you do double tap the home key and close the app a notification from the Kevo appears telling you to reopen the app in order to unlock the door. Let it run in the background Super easy to use!

Please try again later.No, if you set Autounlock to ON in the smartlock app settings on your phone, when ever you return home after the lock has been locked, it will unlock once you (your phone) are inside the geo-fence that can be set in the settings. You DO need to run the app to open the door "manually".. by pressing the button in the app. Hope this helps

The smartphone can be in a pocket when the Kevo lock is touched to open it as long as there is a clear path from the pocket to the Kevo.
