• No extra holes as long as the deadbolt holes are already there. Very easy to install and program. It only took me about 1/2 hour.

• No, if you already have an existing deadbolt (being single cylinder or double cylinder) it will fit right in place. No extra drilling needed. If you don't have a existing deadbolt then yes. You would to treat it as a deadbolt installation.
