The same goes for Sheets as Excel .xls and PowerPoint is slides or .ppt. Microsoft Office is sold for a monthly cost as Word 365. Yes, if you want Microsoft productivity software, you must subscribe as you would for any computer. However, Google and Microsoft offer the software for free with limited storage to be used as web based only. The Windows operating system like Windows 10 and Windows 11 do not work on a Chromebook. Chromebook is its own web based operating system by Google.
