• I bought this recently and am typing my reply from it, now. I have it plugged into a Thunderbolt 3 Dock and it charged just fine. I don't think the USB C charging is actually slower, though. If you have a small, weak power brick like an older phone charger, it definitely won't be as fast.

• It is actually a Thunderbolt 4 port (physically resembles a USB 3), and it does support charging. However, make sure that the CABLE you use is ALSO compatible with carrying a charge, as not all USB cables are equal/the same.

• Yes, but it is slower. It charges great on sleep mode.
