I am running this exact configuration booting from an M.2 Nvme
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi. Yes it is. I answered this elsewhere on the BestBuy question board. If you find that, you'll see how I did it. I used a Samsung Evo 960 500 GB SSD (NVME is supported and I recommend it) and Acronis True Image for the data management and cloning. Bottom line is it makes a huge difference (very quick now, and boots in 10 seconds literally). Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the M.2 is bootable. I installed a 500 GB Samsung 960 Evo (NVME) drive... it works flawlessly and is really fast (about 10 seconds to boot up, and very quick during use). Also, I definitely recommend an NVME drive (it is supported).. it really should be at least 250 GB, but 500 GB is ideal Couple of comments... The M.2 slot is located next to where the power supply plugs into the motherboard. There is no screw hole to anchor the drive, but you can use black electricians tape (get one with a strong adhesive). Here is what I did. 1) Install the software you have at that time, INCLUDING the NVME driver for the Evo 960 or whichever SSD brand you use, and do whatever other configurations you want. 2) Back up the entire C: drive, preferably as image. (I like Acronis True Image Home.) 3) Turn off the computer (pull the power plug as well) and install the drive into the M.2 slot. 4) Turn the computer on and clone the entire C: drive onto the new drive. (Acronis True Image has an easy to use cloning utility that will clone the drive onto the NVME drive, and at the same time make it bootable.) 5) Restart the computer, but enter the BIOS before the reboot finishes to change the boot drive order to make the M.2 drive boot first, the optical disk second, and the hard drive third. (I think you just keep pressing F1 to get into the BIOS.) If all is well, turn off the computer and tape down the drive, put on the case cover, and enjoy! Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Another Lenovo Product Expert below says there is. I bought this tower based on that expert saying there is an M.2 slot. I installed the M.2 Nvme three days ago on this exact model.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no M.2 memory slot listed within this model's configuration.
