The hot water is tied to the cold-water outlet and the cold water is hooked up to the hot water outlet. So, we have been washing our clothing in hot water! I read somewhere that doing this can lead to more wrinkling. We are in the process of switching the hoses.

You can use the delicate cycle or may be select a lower spin cycle. The clothes came out warm from washer. It may be you are living in the house. Summer time the sun heats up the pipes water if the pipes were exposed to the sun.
