SK9000PUA series TVs are a Full Array Local Dimming display and the SK8000PUA series are Standard Local Dimming. All 4 x HDMI Ports on SK9000PUA are on the side and the SK8000PUA series have 2 on the side and 2 in the back. USB ports on the SK9000UA is 1 rear, 2 sides and on the SK8000PUA is 2 rear, 1 side. ^CP
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The SK9000 has full-array local dimming, whereas the SK8000 uses edge lit. The difference would be if you put a single bright object in the center of the screen, the edge lit would have a column of light up the center of the screen from top to bottom. The full-array local dimming would have a bright spot right in the middle where the object is. Depending on how good their algorithm is and how small the arrays are, full-array local dimming should be better for picture quality. On the SK9000, I found the full-array local dimming was pretty good and I didn't notice any significant blooming on the black bars around my content in SDR (HDR has it's own issues on the SK9000 and I don't recommend this tv if you watch any Dolby Vision/HDR content). I have not seen a SK8000 in use, so I can't comment on the blooming/flashlight effect on the black bars from the edge lit.
