“does the soft wear require you to purchase it to use it. or will it auto medically? play dvd's and use cd's? the last one i baught it wanted or required to purchase the soft wear to run it”

No, CD/DVD drive model GP65NB60 is a plug and play device. It reads/writes files from your discs and doesn't require any software to be installed to do that. ^Chris
