• A:Answer Yes only difference is it is an external once plugged in computer sees it as just another another drive. Mine is recognized a drive K: I have put both recorded cds I purchased as well as older ones I burned several years ago and it used Windows Media player and played all of them without trouble. I have the system set to auto play audio CDs via Windows Media player but I have also used several other players as well including an older version of Winamp. Other advantage is it can also burn audio CDs without problems as well.
