I don't think the OS matters. If you can plug the USB adator into the PC, it should work.

It depends on how old your computer is. The 1 terabyte worked with my older laptop but did not recognize the 8 terabyte one.

I would assume so, since I only needed to plug it in to play. I have Win 10, so I can not answer specifically about Vista.

I bought it to use with my Macbook Air. Works well. With my PC (Windows 10) worked well too. I guess with Vista you will not have trouble.
