I would think that it would work if the signal were available as a USB port. If your Direct TV does not have a USB output then you would need an interface device or record from your PC. Nero and other vendors support recording from VCR and other sources and I would think that you could get an adapter that would work. Search Amazon for "VHS to DVD" converters.
