1080p or 720p? Does this play discs in 1080p or in 720p? I currently have the apple superdrive, but it does not play 1080p and need one that reads 1080p discs.

Most likely on 720 because its on a USB not on a HDMI cable. Makes kind of sense if you have an HDMI input, then you are viewing the Object in 1080P or 1080i. It's just standard on a USB.

It plays all DVDs, but not Blu Rays. I am thinking you are referring to Blu Rays to a 1080p video. In that case, this will play that file type.

You need a Blu-Ray drive for HD playback. Look for one that handles Blu-Ray in addition to DVD, CD.

This is just a standard definition drive for a computer. This isn't a dvd player.

Not sure about the speed, but It has played everything I placed in the drive and created dvd copies.
