Bestbuy won't let me edit my other answer, which is wrong. I stated in the answer that it might be incorrect. The Correct answer is "COLOR" the dash followed by a w or b means "Black" or "White", and the W.aus is white & silver. There is B.aus as well, and I am guessing its black & silver, but you'll have to double check that one. The reason this was difficult for some people to figure out is because the websites where the products are sold use a single picture for multiple colors. Often times they use photos of different monitors (usually a similar model, but not exactly the same) as well. 2BH their lazy, and if it dups you into spending money on somthing you didn't want to, its a win for them because you just bought their product, even if you return it, it helps their data look better in the short run. Its very important to do full research on products before engaging in a transaction.

Most LG monitors models are produced using one Panel type, but like I said, occassionally one will come with an option of choosing a different panel type. Typically VA is considered a less expensive option with faster refresh rates, and that makes them good for budget gaming monitors. IPS is not a good panel for gaming, despite what marketing on IPS monitors would have you believe. IPS has a more True color spectrum (e.g. a red is a True red, a bule is a true, and so forth...) This makes them far better for game developers, graphic designers, and content creators. Also IPS is generally considered easier on a persons eyes, which makes it better for software engineers (aka programmers), data scientist, writers & students. As far as I can tell, the b is for an IPS model, and b.aus is for a VA panel in what is normally an IPS model. But this may not be 100% accurate, it is just my best guess. I do know that b.aus models are almost always on sale, and far less than there "b w/o the .aus" counterparts. More often than note, electronic manufactures, when creating cheaper versions of a monitor, will create a budget product by opting for a cheaper panel type, and that is why I am guessing that the ".aus" is a VA panel.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The ".aus" at the end of the model number for the LG 34'' UltraGear™ 21:9 Curved WQHD Nano IPS 1ms 144Hz HDR Gaming Monitor with G-SYNC® Compatibility, Model # 34GN850-B.AUS is a factory suffix that is used for internal purposes. There is only one version of this monitor.
